How To Create A Website For Your Business?

Gone are the days where you only need a brochure or business card for your Company. Now is a completely different story as having a website now is required for any businesses. Ok so let's get started, I will be straight to the point here all you need to do is to read and follow my instructions carefully. So here it goes:

How to Create a Website Checklist:

  1. Domain Name - Register a domain name from Yahoo.com, Godaddy.com, Google Apps Business, Onlydomains.com, asiaregistry.com, domainrightnow.com, dynadot.com, domaindiscount24.com. It only cost around $10 - $20. Make sure to use your trusted email like gmail or yahoo email as some company emails won't last a long time as there would be a time where you will be needing to leave the company. So make sure to register your domain names using your gmail or your yahoo email. Domain name is very important, don't ever give away username and passwords to anyone. When choosing a domain name make sure that the domain name is not too long, make your domain name catchy and easy to remember. It's also not a good idea to put dashes on it as it is hard to remember. The best domain to choose it the .com as it is the primary one. Secondary would be .net, org, etc. From my own experience I recommend Dynadot.com as it also handles paypal payments which is very user friendly.
  2. Web Hosting -  There are a lot of Web Hosting Companies out there to choose from like Godaddy.com, Yahoo SmallBusiness Web hosting, Ironyun.com, Bigcommerce.com, Cloudhostinghq.com, Mochahost.com, Certifiedhosting.com, Exclusivehosting.net, Rackspace.com, Bluehost.com, etc.  Make sure to choose the one that has the best customer service. The One I recommend is Hostgator.com. As it has the Fantastico Easy Auto Installer where you can install CMS websites in just a click of the mouse. Make sure to save all the username and passwords of your cpanel and save the name server address as you will be needing that to connect with your domain name. For Example: Name Server 1 : ns1.hostgator.com  Name Server 2: ns2.hostgator.com . Save that information and Enter that information on your Domain Records Panel. There is a separate access for your domain name. After you logged in, go to the DNS fields and enter the Name Servers from your Web hosting. If you are unsure on what to do, contact the customer service chat support of your domain name and web hosting service.
  3. Web Developer / Graphic Designer - Hire a reliable Web Developer and Graphic Designer. You can look for it on Craigslist or on your facebook, or twitter. The best way is to contact friends who knows how to program and design. You should prepare for your content for every page. The usual website flow has this pages: Home, About Us, Services/Products and Contact Us. Some Web Developers charges per page but the common practice now is the use of CMS where they let you add page yourself and edit it as well. They should give you a User Guide for this.
  4. Content Management System - The Best CMS now is Wordpress, followed by Joomla and other CMS. I personally do recommend Wordpress as it is good in search engine and it is very user-friendly. It is also easy to load. I do not recommend Flash as it is not the trend right now ans it is not good on search engine. Wordpress already has a built-in plugin for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) so that is one of the advantages of it.
  5. Search Engine Optimization - If you want added value on your website and get more traffic, hire a good SEO Specialist. You can search for it online. On craigslist, facebook or twitter and even Linkedin.  It will be safe if you hire from Linkedin as it for professionals. Just be careful and be wise on the price range. Research for an affordable SEO Specialist that has the experience already.
  6. Social Media - All businesses now should have a social media presence. This is for customer service purposes for your clients and future clients. You should have a good social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This is one way of telling your customers that your business really exist and you can follow us anytime.
